It depends on your health insurance provider, It may be possible to re-claim for a course of treatment but you should check in advance with your insurance company as soon as you plan to go for osteopathic treatment, in order to confirm the available level of cover and whether you will need to have a referral from your GP. We will provide you all the necessary invoice and documents to handover to your health insurance provider for further steps
Most patients ‘self refer’ to an osteopath for treatment. Although referral by a GP is not necessary, patients are encouraged to keep both their GP and osteopath fully informed, so that their medical records are current and complete and the patient receives the best possible care from both healthcare practitioners.
Osteopathic treatments are 45 minutes to 1 hours

Not all pain feels the same 👀
Some pain stays in one spot.
Some pain travels.
Some feels dull and tight.
Some feels sharp, burning, tingling, or electric.
So how do you know if it’s muscular pain or nerve-related pain?
Dr. Mudathir explains a few common differences:
💪 Muscular pain may feel:
Localised to one areaWorse with movement or exerciseBetter with gentle massage or treatment
⚡ Nerve-related pain may feel:
Like it travels into the arm or legLike pins and needlesLike tingling, numbness, burning, or electric pain
The tricky part? Pain can overlap.
That’s why at British Osteopathy Centre, we don’t just look at where it hurts — we assess what may be causing it.

After an injury, pain settling down does not always mean the body is fully recovered.
Muscles may still be weak, joints may feel stiff, balance may be affected, and movement patterns can change without you noticing. This is why rehabilitation plays such an important role in safe recovery.
Rehabilitation is not only about treating the injured area. It helps restore strength, mobility, flexibility, coordination, and confidence so the body can return to daily life, work, sport, and exercise more safely.
Without proper rehabilitation, many people return to activity too quickly. This may increase the chance of repeated pain, overload, compensation, or another injury in the future.
For people in Muscat, whether you are recovering from a sports injury, gym strain, football or padel injury, work-related discomfort, or a simple everyday accident, a guided rehabilitation plan can help you understand your body better and recover at the right pace.
The goal is not just to “feel better” — it is to move better, build strength again, and feel more confident in your body after injury.
Recovery takes time, patience, and the right support. Rehabilitation helps bridge the gap between injury and getting back to the activities you enjoy.

True Talk: Can osteopathy help during pregnancy? 🤰✨
Pregnancy is beautiful, but it can also bring back pain, pelvic discomfort, hip tightness, rib tension, neck pain, sciatica-like symptoms, and difficulty sleeping.
As your body changes, your posture, pelvis, spine, and muscles all adapt — and sometimes they need extra support.
Osteopathy during pregnancy uses gentle, hands-on techniques to help reduce tension, improve mobility, support posture, and make the body feel more balanced and comfortable.
Sessions are adapted to each stage of pregnancy and focus on safe, supportive care for the mother’s changing body.
Osteopathy may also help with pelvic mobility, birth preparation, and postnatal recovery from feeding posture, lifting, carrying, and the physical demands of motherhood.
So, can osteopathy help pregnant women?
Yes — for many women, it can be a gentle and supportive way to manage pregnancy-related aches and feel more comfortable throughout the journey. 🌿
Always consult a qualified practitioner, and seek medical advice for severe pain, bleeding, dizziness, reduced baby movement, or unusual symptoms.

Dry needling vs acupuncture vs Chinese needling — confused? You’re not alone 👀
Dr. Shrisha, our physiotherapist at BOC Muscat, explains the key difference:
Dry needling focuses on specific muscle trigger points, while acupuncture and Chinese needling usually follow a mapping-based technique.
At British Osteopathy Centre, dry needling may be used as part of a personalised treatment plan after understanding your body, symptoms, and goals.

Your lymphatic system plays an important role in helping the body manage fluid balance, immune function, and natural waste removal.
When fluid movement feels sluggish, some people may notice puffiness, heaviness, mild swelling, or a general feeling of tension in the body. Lymphatic drainage is a gentle, hands-on treatment approach designed to support the natural flow of lymph fluid through the body.
It may be helpful for people who experience fluid retention, post-training heaviness, travel-related puffiness, or those simply looking for a lighter, more relaxed feeling in their body.
At British Osteopathy Centre, treatment is always approached with care and tailored to the individual. Our team considers your health history, lifestyle, movement, and comfort before recommending the right support for you.
Especially here in Muscat, where heat, long working hours, training, and travel can sometimes leave the body feeling heavy or tired, gentle recovery-focused care can be a helpful part of your wellness routine.
Lymphatic drainage is not about quick fixes — it is about supporting the body’s natural processes in a safe, gentle, and informed way.

Neck pain isn’t always just about the neck 👀
For many people with desk jobs, long hours on laptops, phones, and screens can create stress through the neck, upper back, traps, and shoulders — sometimes leading to referred pain around the shoulder area too.
In this reel, Dr. Shrisha explains how we assess what’s really going on, work on the root cause, and support the areas where pain may be referring.
At BOC, no two sessions are exactly the same. Your treatment plan may change depending on how your body is responding, how you’re recovering, and what you’re feeling on that particular day.
Manual therapy is at the heart of what we do — personalised, thoughtful, and focused on helping you move and feel better.
If you’re considering care, we always encourage you to make an informed choice. Check out our 4.9⭐ Google rating and hear from patients across Oman who have trusted BOC with their recovery journey.

Do you feel a sharp pain under your heel when you take your first steps in the morning? Or discomfort after standing, walking, or exercising for long periods? This could be related to plantar fasciitis, one of the most common causes of heel pain.
Plantar fasciitis happens when the thick band of tissue under the foot becomes irritated or overloaded. This tissue helps support the arch of the foot and absorbs impact during walking, running, and standing. When it becomes strained, it can lead to pain, stiffness, and sensitivity around the heel or arch.
At BOC, the focus is on understanding why the pain is happening, not just where it hurts. Heel pain can often be influenced by factors such as calf tightness, foot posture, reduced ankle mobility, footwear, activity levels, or changes in training and daily routine.
Depending on the individual, support may include hands-on treatment, soft tissue work, mobility exercises, strengthening, stretching guidance, rehabilitation, and podiatry input where needed. The aim is to help reduce irritation, improve movement, and support the foot and lower limb so they can function more comfortably together.
With the right assessment and guidance, plantar fasciitis can often be managed effectively and gradually improved over time.
